Greek Easter

Yesterday was Greek Orthodox Easter and we had a lovely lunch at my sisters place. Evan had a blast with his cousins. He was very interested in the "breaking eggs" tradition and quite chuffed that he had the "champion" egg.

His first few egg choices weren't too successful, however eventually the winning egg was chosen and all others were destroyed.

The food was amazing, although I don't quite understand how lamingtons have come to be a traditional "Greek Easter" food. They were very yummy.

The picture above shows some of the more traditional foods, the dyed eggs and greek shortbread cookies. Not sure what the popcorn or biscotti are doing there.

Easter Show 2008

Evan was very luck to visit the Sydney Royal Easter Show twice this year. Here are highlights.

He had a fantastic time and it seems he is a bit of a thrill seeker when it comes to rides. I am terrified of scary rides, so he must get that from his dad.

Apart from the rides, he loved milking a cow and watching the sheep get a "haircut". The farmyard nursery was pretty good this year with alot of the animals being allowed to wander about whilst the kids could pat and feed them.

He got very excited when the milk squirted out!

My favourite - the baby ducks trying to keep each other warm, I love the way they hudle under the light.

This ride was awesome, the cars went round and round in the air then bounced up and down. Evan spent most of the ride laughing his head off.

We also caught the Dora and Boots show, although we got there just after it started and it was jam packed. Lucky DH has strong shoulders, so Evan sat and watched from their for the full 30min show!

As we were about to leave in the afternoon, we stumbled across the ABC kids show. Of course we had to stop, there was Jay from Playschool singing and his special guests were B1 and B2 and the Koala Bros. It was a pretty good show and not crowded at all.

With his cousins on some big kid rides

Looking a bit nervous, lucky cousin George was on hand to provide support.

Finally up in the air, that's Evan on the far right.
