Hungry Jacks

Evan says that the burger and food are crap at Hungy Jacks. False advertising.

The Next Ian Thorpe?

About 3 weeks ago Evan decided that it was time to learn to swim. Now we had done lessons in the past, but only ever lasted 3 weeks before he lost interest or we did. So all up he has had about 6 lessons between the ages of 2 and 3 years and really made no progress at all. I think it's one of those things you have to stick at.

Since then we have had a few holidays where there have been some great pools and Evan has used a floatation ring to swim around as he wouldn't even try floaties or a bubble.

The on the last couple of days of our Christmas holiday he decided that he wanted to "swim" like a big boy as he was now a "SENIOR" at daycare and being 4.5 yo he felt it was time. So he pretty much just went for it.

He can now "swim" across the pool, jump in the deep end and swim back, dive down to the bottom of the pool and retreive things (even in the deep end), dog paddle, his version of freestyle and also underwater swimming. George and I are just amazed and really have no idea where this has come from.

We have been taking him swimming ever other day to the local pool and he just continues to improve.

Here is a video I took on the weekend. Sorry for the quality, it was taken on my Blackberry, will get some better video soon.

Senior Boy

After a 2 week break it was back to the grind this week. I started back at work yesterday and Evan had his first day at daycare today. He has now moved up to the Senior Preschool. He was very excited to be a "senior" this year and proud to be one of the "big" boys. I wish I had taken a picture of him this morning. He had his new backpack, a trendy new haircut and his new Elmo baseball cap.

George is still on holidays, so he has picked Evan up early today and they are headed for the pool as it's so incredibly hot in Sydney today. Someone said it was over 40degrees out west. Aghhhh. So glad to be in an airconditioned office.

One of my new years resolutions is to blog weekly, so this is week 1. Let's see how I go.

Cheers

Christmas Concert

Evan had his Christmas Concert at Daycare last week. They did 3 songs and Evan had a blast. He sort of stole the show as he was extremely loud (wonder where he gets that from) and was the only one that knew all the words. As for his confidence, not sure where that comes from.
One of the songs was the Australian version of the 12 days of Christmas and he was the Shark Surfing. He really loves his shark costume.
Cheers

Santa Clause is Coming To Town

Evan has been very keen to see Santa this year as he desparately wants an R2-D2 Interactive robot for Christmas.

So we went on Sunday to DJs in the City and waited in line for almost 2 hours. Like I said he was very keen and waiting in line for that length of time was no problem for him. I can't believe how patient he was, amazing!

He told Santa that they are available at Disneyworld in Florida as they are sold out at Disneyland in California and that it was a long way away, so he was getting in early so Santa would have time. He also asked Santa if he had enough money to get it as mummy and daddy didn't have enough when we were in Disneyworld... ROFL. Santa did all he could not to laugh. I winked at him to let him know the robot is a goer, so Santa kept up the pretence and they spent 20min chatting about the robot, why he wanted it and how he was going to be good. I so with I had a video camera.

Our Disney Dream Vacation

Here are some pictures from our recent holiday to Disneyland and Walt Disney World. We had a fantastic time and can't wait to go back one day. Even after 3 weeks we still didn't get to do everything we had planned.

Evan was the perfect traveller, he slept so well on the plane and the time zone changes didn't bother him too much. In fact I don't think we had a meltdown once this whole trip. Maybe he was too scared we'd go home if he acted up.

He was really into the thrill rides this time and his favourite was the Twighlight Zone Tower of Terror, check out You Tube to get an idea. Basically it's a supposed to be an old Hollywood Hotel and you are trapped in a faulty elevator which falls 14floors. He called it the ride that "made my tummy funny".

Evan was also chosen twice to take part in the Jedi Training Academy. This is where they chose about 12 kids from the audience to train with a Jedi Master and then battle Darth Vader or Darth Maul. Evan took it all very seriously and was ecsatic to defeat Darth. I couldn't believe he was chosen, must be that cute face.

We had so many moments and adventures, that it's too hard to get it all down on paper. Here are some of the highlights, these pics were all taken by Disney photographers and are part of a Photo CD that I got. We also have more pics we took which I will post later.
